Let.It.Go. Session 4: Practicing the Art of Soul Control
Our last session dealt with the Proverbs 31 woman who teaches and speaks words of kindness. But let’s be honest, there are times when it is not kindness longing to spill from our lips. Typically these occasions occur on days filled with interruptions and inconveniences working against even the best laid plans. I have experienced it. You have experienced it. For example, it seems to never fail that when I am running late for an appointment I get stuck on a narrow two-lane country road behind some slow-moving farm equipment. Ugh! Impatience floods my heart as I simmer behind the wheel unable to pass, unable to push, left only to wait until he turns or I’m able to break free somehow. My spirit feels out of control, and honestly, it doesn’t feel good. God wants us to let go and rest in him. He wants us to learn to act instead of react by bringing our souls under His control. Karen calls it “soul control.” (Order Karen’s book through Amazon.com)
Scripture Memory Verse:
“Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.” Ps. 62:1-2 (NKJV).
