Many of us have the mistaken belief that we can avoid sugar by replacing natural sugar with artificial sweeteners. This is wrong! We also have the mistaken belief that fat-free packaged foods are good for us. After all, it’s the fat that causes us to suffer from high cholesterol. Again, this is wrong! The reason many (not all; but many) suffer from high cholesterol is that they consume too many sugary treats.
Yes, sugar is the culprit.
So, when a foods is labeled “low” or “no fat” we have a sharp increase in the amount of sugar in that product. Conversely, if the food is labeled “low” or “no sugar” we see a sharp increase in the amount of fat in that product. The manufacturers have to do something to make it taste better when it is artificially altered.
Since we are now aware of this, we need to apply Tip #2. Start today to eliminate “diet” foods from your diet. Anything marked with any of the advertiser’s buzz words, like “low fat” or “no sugar”, go back to Tip #1, read the ingredient label and kick it out of your pantry and your mouth. We need to be ruthless in order to break this addiction, and artificially altered foods are addictive, too.
Yesterday was Day 3 of our Healthy Habits for Life: 28 days to sugar-free living. Day 3 can be a critical day in any life change, especially when you are changing your diet or breaking any addiction. I want to share a victory of mine from yesterday. Every night my husband wants his dessert. So I was feeling vulnerable to falling back into my sugar habit, and I knew I would need to get him a piece of cake and a glass of milk. I had to have a strategy to deal with it. I thought, “Let me see what I can have before I cut his cake to help me know take a bite for myself.” So, I picked out a non-caffeinated, flavored tea (green tea with orange) and made me a cup of hot tea (unsweetened, of course).
He enjoyed his cake; I savored my hot tea and the victory!
Dear Father, thank you for the victory you have provided for us through the precious sacrifice of your Son. Help us to lean on Him as we follow you in obedience to break our addictions and live free in the abundant life you have provided for us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

I do accept as true with all of the concepts you’ve presented on your post. They’re really convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are too short for starters. May you please prolong them a bit from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
