“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39, NKJV
I know you. Tossing, turning. Mind racing. Anxious and afraid.
I know you. Broken, beaten. Alone, despairing. Self-debasing.
I know you. Young eyes staring. Hurting, hiding. Heart is tearing.
I know you. Dreams dying. Shaking. Crying. “Hush, Hush, child, it’ll be okay.” Wonder if you’re lying.
I was you.
Now, I know Him. A Man of sorrows. Despised and rejected for my tomorrows.
I know Him. Acquainted with grief. Wounded for me. My burdens relieved.
I know Him. Bruised for my iniquity. Chastised in antiquity.
I know Him. Alone and dying. Morning Star rising.
I know Him. Walking on the sea. Coming to me.
I know Him. Stilling waves. Calming the seas. Speaking, “Peace, Be still.” Setting me free.
Now, joy and laughter amid new dreams, even in life’s disasters. Tell me, Dear One, what say you to My Lord and Master?
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33, NKJV.
