Let.It.Go. Session Three

Let.It.Go. Session Three: “Combating the Appearance of Perfection”

Scripture Memory Verse:   “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” Prov. 31:26

Weekly Assignment:

Read Proverbs 31 and reflect on the unnamed woman featured in this chapter.

In your own words describe this woman (what she did, how she treated others.)

What do you think others said about her?

What did her family think of her?

Our memory verse speaks of her words of wisdom and kindness. Close reading reveals she did not only speak with kindness, but she taught kindness, no doubt through her speech as well as her conduct.

Ask God to bring to your mind a time when you were unkind or unwise in something you said to family, co-workers, or friends?

Seek his wisdom whether this is something you need to go to the person about and ask for forgiveness.

Read chapters 5-6 of Let.It.Go.

Write out the following verses:

Job 6:24

Ps. 34:12-14

Ps. 64:3

Ps. 139:4

Prov. 15:1-2

Prov. 21:23

James 1:26

Reflect on their common theme and write down in your notebook what God speaks to you as you ask yourself these questions:

Is there something I need to change in the way I speak to others?

During times when I desire control do I speak my “mind” or do I take time to allow Christ to work through the imperfections of the moment?

Do my words and actions reflect a heart ruled by Christ?

Will I allow Christ to rule my speech now that I am aware of this area in my life?

Dear Friends,

This marks the halfway point in our study. I want to encourage each of  you to stay committed to the end. I feel enriched by Karen’s wit and insight and will forever remember the concepts she has presented for us in her book. I trust you will as well. If you are studying along with a friend or family member take time now to encourage one another and help each other stay committed to letting go and trusting God.

In Christ’s Love and Service,

Carla Pollard
